ROAM - Rivers Oceans & Mountains

Accommodations in Nelson, BC when traveling with ROAM

Trip B - Kootenay Multi-Sport

ROAM provides numerous accommodation options to allow you to either explore the city of Nelson or hide away from it all, in remote country lodges.

Willow Point Lodge
A magnificent country Inn that offers a beautiful haven for the adventurous and the romantic. The elegant lodge has a peaceful and eclectic setting away from the ordinary world. You'll find exceptional hospitality and coziness for the discerning traveler. The large guests rooms all have their private bathrooms and enjoy stunning views of large acreage, gardens, untouched mountains and pristine lake. Two are honeymoon suites - one has a balcony, the other a Renaissance-like canopy bed and a massive stone wood-burning fireplace, private entrance and jacuzzi tub. No other houses or cars can be seen or heard from the retreat, yet the lodge is located only 4 miles from the lovely town of Nelson.

Blaylock Mansion
Built in 1934 and situated where the mountains meet Kootenay Lake. With seven exquisitely decorated theme rooms, the mansion has beautiful antique and period furniture that compliment the building. Other amenities include a grand billiard room and a massage and steam-room facility. When on the grounds guests can't help but notice the peaceful feeling that the property evokes. Impressive chiseled granite walls and wrought iron gates mark the entrance to the 13 acres of Blaylock estate. This property is an arboretum with grounds that are beautiful, lending peace of mind, with the elaborate mature rock gardens and cascading waterfalls, fountains, still ponds, and hidden pathways.

Wedgwood Manor
Located on a fifty-acre estate on Kootenay Lake's East Shore since the turn of the century. Built for the daughter of British china magnate Josiah Wedgwood, the Manor is an intriguing English Country House transplanted to a setting of amazing natural beauty, where white-tailed deer browse in the fields and eagles and osprey soar in the sky. Now restored to Victorian splendor, enticing ensuite guest rooms make perfect retreats from everyday life. Snuggle up with a good book in the library. Sip tea in front of the parlour fireplace or stroll along the garden paths and find your own leafy hidden niche. In the mornings you'll enjoy a gracious breakfast served at your table before the crackling fireplace in the dining room... the perfect start to a day of exploring the Kootenays.

Dayspring Lodge
A spacious waterfront country home with southwestern style but views you can only find in the Kootenays. Spectacular view rooms are decorated with antiques and this elegant home features fireplaces, spa pool and some of the finest food this side of the Rockies. Nearby outdoor amenities include hotsprings, beautiful waterfalls, swimming, hiking, caving and boating.

Retallack Resort
A craftsman timber frame structure, boasting 10,000 square feet of warm turn-of-the century tradition offset with Tibetan detailing. The impressive living room is the place to relax or read a book in front of the two story granite fireplace. For more unwinding we have a games room (pool table and table tennis), sauna and Jacuzzi, and a media room with satellite TV.  The lodge has 11 comfortable guest rooms with private bathrooms with showers.
